Dr. Basia Sliwinska who is art theorist and art historian investigate 20th and 21st- century art.  The research interests of the author are feminist aesthetics of modern women artists, feminist art history, citizenship and gender inside of modern women’s art practice. Currently, she is working in University of the Arts London and she works as a Senior Lecturer in Cultural and Historical Studies. Previously, Basia worked in at Loughborough University and the School of Art and Design (Middlesex University) (Arts, n.d.).



The main target of the paper is that explains the diverse link of concretized international belongings, discovering projects by Nada Prlja and Joanna Rajkowska. Owing to the figurative expression of edge habitat, ecotone, facilitating exchange between societies, Sliwinska investigates spaces which are in-between and public identity of the person in Europe. Although text includes some specifics terms, heavily, basic words were used by the author. So, text address to a general audience.
“My ID defines me, and my identity: it does not define my sense of belonging” (Sliwinska, 2016 pp:287). Everybody has an ID which is given by our countries. It defines our names, family names, gender, birth dates, photos, etc. It defines us. But as the expression defines, it is just papers which do not include our belonging. People may feel to belong whithersoever, we belong in a space where feel part of and peaceful.


Author defines that: ‘’Ecotone is where two communities meet and integrate. It is a
the boundary between ecosystems, functioning as a transitory space influenced by bordering ecosystems. In consequence, this area is often inhabited by a greater variety of species leading to a greater biodiversity, known as the ‘edge effect’. An ecotone can be created naturally or as a result of human interaction’’ (Sliwinska, 2016 pp:288). When I was a university, I researched Mbam Djerem National Park's for my project and in my opinion, this area in Cameroon is a good example for ecotone because, there is many kinds of species live in the park.

Sliwinska gives two models of artists who have examined and experimented with social relations and communal space. The first example, Joanna Rajkowska who is a Polish artist based in London. ‘’Born in Berlin’’ (2012) which is mentioned knowledge of giving birth to Rosa (her child). Sliwinska and her husband chose to move Germany for produce this film. The reasons to choose Berlin is that Berlin is called immigration’s city. There are many citizens who originally different live in the city. She thinks that Rosas’s biography changed when his born in Berlin and she always will say that I born in Berlin. Also, the author believes that Rosa fell itself the part of history and identity of Berlin although, her mother be a Polish and her father is a British.
Second example, Nada Prlja who born in in Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina
She focuses economic, political and communal dimensions of modern global. Give’em Hell (2008), stop the war against immigrants (2008) is given example project which is set going problems of injustice and inequality. ‘’This documentary demonstrates the anger and intolerance towards immigrants’’ (Prlja,2008 cited in Sliwinska, 2016 pp:303). It shows refusal immigrants. The videos in the film were recorded hidden camera.

1. If people can access all countries without ID, whicht problems could we encounter?
2. Does it affect your cultural future even if you do not live in the country of your birth?
